SUSTAINABILITY VISION DAFRA PHARMA
In order to structurally embed the organisation’s sustainable character in its policy, Dafra Pharma aims to make adequate long-term efforts, within its possibilities and at all levels, to focus innovatively on a healthy and inspiring working environment for all its employees and service providers both at home and abroad. On the other hand, Dafra Pharma aspires to be a reliable partner for all its stakeholders.
SUBSTANTIATION OF DAFRA’S SUSTAINABILITY VISION
Dafra Pharma wants to underpin its vision on sustainability by focusing on two key corporate goals that have been part of the Dafra DNA for many years:
Be a great place to work
Dafra Pharma recognises human capital as a key value for the company. In order to further build this capital, Dafra Pharma will always be fully committed to the wellbeing of its personnel.
This is achieved by:
– having adequate attention to safety, health, technology and infrastructure
– with a healthy work-life balance
– by stimulating entrepreneurship and responsibility
– by offering training and career development opportunities
– and always with equality in terms of gender, age, background etc.
Recognition as a reliable company
Dafra Pharma is committed to further developing as a pharmaceutical company, towards all legislative bodies, in relation to hospitals, doctors and pharmacists, and with the cooperation of its entire promotion team, including all wholesalers involved, without losing sight of the following pillars:
– making healthcare in Africa accessible to a large part of the population, using a wide and diverse range of products
– the charitable nature of Dafra Pharma
Based on these two corporate goals, Dafra Pharma will continue to develop innovative solutions to address health problems in Africa and to further develop its business activities in a sustainable way, both now and in the future.
Our laboratory aims to aid nursing students in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to do well in their studies. That’s why we decided to equip a number of nursing and midwifery schools in particularly deprived areas with medical libraries in cooperation with the Kangu-Mayumbe Centre for Health Promotion. The latter has developed medical manuals that are well adapted to local situations, to the problems that these young nurses will encounter in their professional lives and to the responsibilities they will be entrusted with when they are on duty in an isolated health centre.
The manuals can be divided into three categories:
1) basic textbooks: official nursing curriculum in the DRC
2) supplementary textbooks: medical lexicon, medical dictionary, surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, nutrition, food, health statistics, psychiatry, surgical care …
3) reference documents: books and brochures for teachers to prepare their lessons
The Ministry of Health in the DRC currently lists 345 medium-level nursing and midwifery schools (4 years of bachelor studies + 4 years of medical studies) and 75 higher-level schools (bachelor studies + 3 years of medical studies). 285 schools have already been equipped with a medical library, thanks to a range of external assistance, among which Dafra Pharma. Demand remains high as many medical training courses are beginning to realise that they can obtain a medical library from the Kangu Centre.

In 2021 and 2022, Dafra Pharma received the Voka Charter for Sustainable Enterprises. That manifest puts the emphasis on the successful completion of predefined targets like the reduction of the global CO2-emissions. Receiving this certificate means that Dafra Pharma has been positively evaluated twice within six years where all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations were treated at least once. As a result, Dafra Pharma was honoured as an SDG Pioneer.
